Day 20: Land Ho

Sadly, our island adventures had to come to an end, and we departed for the mainland. On the boat, after getting too much sun on the sun deck, we went inside and sat down in the few empty seats next to a girl sleeping across three chairs. She woke up shortly before docking, and became one of the friendliest people we've met so far (it turns out she's been travelling solo for 6 months - we'd be desparate for friends too). Her name is Daisy and we shared a taxi into Ao Nang and found a hostel together. While working out the room logistics, she even suggested we share a tiny bungalow to save money, but there were no extra beds and there was no way we were all going to fit in a single double bed (the two of us have enough trouble sharing one, but after 20 days we're finally used to it).

Before our arrival we were absolutely determined to go sea kayaking in the bays around Ao Nang, but after lunch a wave of exhaustion hit us like the Asian tsunami of 2004. We were done for. We napped for the next 4 hours.

  2. Ashwin you look great with that beard, Danny not so much. Is Ashwin paying you to wear that SF Marathon shirt? Not surprising how you are mistakingly being confused as brothers since you are often wearing matching shirts and hats. The pics of the water are amazing so emerald green too bad the snorkeling wasn't that good.

You might have crossed the line with a bit too much information in this post, but we do appreciate the photos and daily entries.

Found this on you tube. It shows the fire jump rope. Strange how no one seems to get seriously injured. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S9ycCp1S0E&feature=PlayList&p=C9FC9F3C96835EC4&index=3

  3. Michael, thanks for the youtube link. You didn't mention the inclusion of some boxing at the Reggae Bar!!

I have to agree that you guys look related if not twins, but muslim?? Handsome, but muslim? Isn't asking someone if they are muslim like asking them if they are christian? How does one look christian? Oh well, I guess being nothing keeps me out of the know in this.

I love the recent picture additions. It really is so beautiful there. I am surprised that it is so touristy. It may just be this recent location. I just imagined it with way more locals and less foreigners. I was also surprised (in the youtube video) to see how reasonably modern and clean things look. I imagined it more like India.

Kudos to Daisy! What a brave woman. Is she on a gap year? I would love to meet her. Give her a hug for me (and for her mom)!

This entry was a bit thin, but that is only in comparison to the other wonderfully long and entertaining entries. What can we expect on day that is spent sleeping for the most part? You got some well deserved rest.

Thank you both so much for having so much fun and giving us the opportunity to share it with you. Much, much love!
